About Pages Before Pixels
Pages Before Pixels is a guide to planning a small website. It follows the order of the work: why the site exists, which pages it needs, how people get to them, what goes on the key pages, how to sketch them, how to write the words and how to collect the files.
It's written for people building their first site, such as a small business owner, a club volunteer or a hobbyist. You don't need design or technical skills. Sentences are short, and each new word is explained.
The guide is about planning only. It leaves out how pages adapt to different screens, accessibility rules and search ranking, because those are separate subjects.
Facts link to where they came from. The sources are government guidance on writing and content, MDN's beginner course and Wikipedia. The examples are made up, and each one says so.
The site has no ads, no affiliate links and no sponsors. It doesn't review or recommend any tools or services.
Advice about what to put on a page is a suggestion. Your own readers and your own goals come first.
